CMPD investigating homicide after man shot and killed in west Charlotte
Police responded to the scene around 6 p.m. in the 3600 block of Avalon Avenue.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place Thursday evening.
Police responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Avalon Avenue. When officers arrived, a male victim was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Medic says the man was pronounced dead on the scene. CMPD did not explain how the shooting happened.
The victim has since been identified as 26-year-old Daquarius Malik Jackson.
“We’re in the early evening hours. The sun is still out and there are several people out in the neighborhood. We’re just looking for an individual to give us assistance and let us know if they saw something that may appear suspicious that they would relay that information to the police department,” said Major Cecil Brisbon with the CMPD.
